Ylpeys-instituutti

Löysin koulumme vastaanotosta jokusen Pride Institute -opaskortin, joiden tarkoitus on saada kiinalaiset käyttäytymään arkipäivän tilanteissa siivommin ja sitä kautta näyttäytymään paremmassa valossa ulkopuolisten silmissä. Yleinen tietämättömyys tällaisista perusasioista on Kiinassa ihan oikea ongelma, mutta kyllä jokusen suomalaisenkin taskuun voisi pari tällaista korttia sujauttaa. Pyydän anteeksi mahdollisilta englantia taitamattomilta lukijoiltani, sillä en viitsinyt ohjeita kääntää ajanpuutteen vuoksi suomeksi.
BE CONSIDERATE - DO NOT BE TOO LOUD

- Be sensitive to the environment and establish a caring manner - do not let your presence interrupt a nice and quiet environment.
- Adopt an indoor voice when you are inside.
- If you are in a nice and quiet place (whether you are indoors or outdoors, in China or overseas), be quiet. Do not disturb the quietness.
- When you need to move a chair during a quiet meeting, move it without making scratching noises.
- When you are using your cell phone, it is just like talking to someone right next to you, no need to shout.
- It is not considered good manner to use cell phone in a theater; your phone should be switched off or put on silent mode the moment you walk in.

WE LINE UP PROPERLY - WE DO NOT CUT IN LINE

- Lining up properly is a basic sourtesy to other people, the same courtesy you would want to receive from others. Everybody should have the equal chance to move to the front.
- No matter where you are, as long as there is one person in front of you, line up behind him, not beside him.
- Wait until the person in front of you finishes and walks away, and then it is your turn.
- Give the person in front of you a little space when lining up.
- When someone cuts in line, remind him not to do so.
- Be the first person to line up, not the first person to cut in line!
- Driving a car does not give you the right to not line up or to cut someone off.

WE RESPECT OTHERS, SPITTING IS HARMFUL

- Hacking and spitting is a habit that is not respectful to you or to other people.
- It is safe to swallow because most of the bacteria/pathogens that are found within the phlegm will either have been attacked by the white cells, or will have been destroyed by the stomach acid.
- If you have to spit, spit quietly onto a piece of tissue or a handkerchief and wrap it up and throw it in the trash can.
- Hacking or loudly clearing you throat is impolite - it is not a necessity but a habit.
- Remember, spitting will not make you any healthier, but it may infect others.
- If you see someone spitting, remind the person of the correct way of doing it, or give out this card.
